Every job on Taskrabbit falls into one of a handful of categories. Browse the list, pick the closest match, and describe what you need. If your job straddles two categories, describe it anyway — Taskers who handle that kind of work will see it.

What you can book

Six categories cover most household work

The catalog below is short on purpose. Most bookings land in assembly, mounting and small repairs, moving and heavy lifting, cleaning, or yard work. Read the category notes, then describe your job in your own words — that description is what Taskers respond to.

Furniture assembly

Flat-pack furniture is the most common booking

A bookshelf takes an hour. A full bedroom set takes three. Taskers bring their own tools and know the common brands, so the work usually starts the moment they arrive. If you have the model number, add it to the job description — assembly instructions vary a lot between product lines, and a Tasker who knows which version you bought skips the guesswork.

IKEA items are the most frequently booked, and Taskers who specialize in them work faster than someone figuring out the pictograms for the first time. Beyond flat-pack, this category covers bed frames, wardrobes, desks, and the awkward pieces that arrive in two boxes and one very long panel.

TV mounting and wall hanging

Find the stud, set the height, hide the cable

Mounting a TV involves finding studs, choosing a bracket height, and hiding cables if you want a clean look. Taskers handle the bracket install and can advise on placement before drilling, so you are not guessing at eye level once the holes are in the wall.

Picture frames, mirrors, shelves, and curtain rods fall into the same category. If your wall is brick, plaster, or has metal studs, say so in the description: the mounting hardware changes, and a Tasker who knows that ahead of time brings the right anchors instead of improvising with what is in the van.

Small home repairs

One visit, no permit, done by dinner

Dripping faucets, sticking doors, loose cabinet hinges, caulking around a tub, a shelf that needs anchoring. These jobs fit a single visit and do not need a permit. Many arrive as a list of four or five small things that have been waiting months — that is exactly the shape this category is built for.

The line is clear: if the work requires a licensed trade, the platform is not the right fit, and we will say so. Major electrical, gas, structural, and plumbing work belongs with a licensed professional. Small repairs are what Taskrabbit is built for, and Taskers here are vetted for the difference.

Moving, cleaning and yard help

Three more categories, each with a different pricing shape. Read the rows for what changes the rate before you write your description.

Moving help and heavy lifting

Hourly

Two Taskers and a truck, booked for a few hours, will move a studio apartment faster and cheaper than a full-service moving company. The most common requests are loading a rental truck, rearranging heavy furniture within a home, and hauling items to a donation center. Long-distance moves and whole-house relocations are better handled by a licensed mover — local moves and heavy lifting are squarely in the platform's wheelhouse.

Moving, Cleaning and Yard Help

Home cleaning

Per visit

One-time deep cleans, recurring housekeeping, move-out cleaning, and post-renovation cleanup are all bookable. You choose the frequency: a single visit or a recurring slot. Cleaning rates usually depend on square footage, number of bathrooms, and whether the home has pets. Add those details to the description so the rate is accurate, and if you need the same cleaner every two weeks, look for a Tasker who lists recurring availability.

Yard work and outdoor help

Flat or hourly

Mowing, leaf cleanup, hedge trimming, weeding, and hauling away green waste. Some customers book yard work once a season. Others need it monthly during growing season. Taskers in this category usually bring their own basic tools, but for large properties or specialized equipment, mention what you have on site. Debris removal is a common add-on, and it is worth confirming whether the Tasker disposes of the waste or leaves it for your pickup.

Choosing the right category

Match the job to the closest category

If you are unsure, start with the outcome you want. A flat-pack dresser is assembly. A TV on the wall is mounting. A running toilet is a small repair. A truck full of boxes is moving help. A dirty kitchen is cleaning. A messy backyard is yard work.

You have

Two flat-pack boxes and no drill

Book assembly

You have

A TV, a bracket, and a plaster wall

Book mounting

You have

A toilet that will not stop running

Book a small repair

You have

A rental truck and a hallway of boxes

Book moving help

When a job spans categories, describe the whole thing and let Taskers tell you if they can handle it in one visit or if you need two bookings. A bedroom set plus a curtain rod is usually one visit. A move-out clean plus a repair list is usually two.

Jobs that do not fit the platform

We would rather turn away work than book it badly

Renovations, room additions, roofing, HVAC installation, electrical panel work, gas line work, and anything requiring a permit belong with a licensed contractor. Emergency repairs like a burst pipe or a flooded basement need a licensed trade professional immediately. The platform is built for jobs that fit in an afternoon and do not require permits.

If your job is on the left column, we will tell you that instead of booking it. That answer costs us a booking and saves you a worse outcome.

Booking a category you have never tried

The first booking teaches you the most

Read a few Tasker profiles before you pick. Look at reviews from customers who booked similar jobs. Check whether the Tasker lists the right tools for your task. And be specific in the description: photos, measurements, and model numbers all help.

After the job, leave a review. That is what makes the next customer's decision easier, and it is the part of the system that keeps a category useful over time.

Common questions

Before you pick a category

What if my job fits two categories?

Describe the whole job in one post. Taskers who handle both kinds of work will tell you whether it fits a single visit or needs two bookings. You are not penalized for posting a mixed job.

Do I need to buy parts and hardware first?

For assembly, no — the hardware ships with the furniture. For repairs and mounting, it depends. Say what you already have on site and what is missing; a Tasker can tell you before the visit whether to pick something up on the way.

How do I know a repair is small enough for this platform?

If it needs a permit, a new circuit, gas work, or a structural change, it belongs with a licensed trade. Everything that fits in an afternoon and touches fixtures, hinges, seals, or anchors is usually fine. When in doubt, describe it — Taskers will decline work they are not qualified for.

Can the same Tasker do cleaning and yard work?

Sometimes. Many Taskers list more than one category, and their profile shows which ones. If you want one person for both, post the combined job and check the reviews from each category before booking.

Where can I get help choosing?

Contact support with the job in your own words. We will point you at the closest category and tell you if the job actually needs a licensed trade instead. Support hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
